About the Team

Name: Mike

Why Strudel?

I have always been interested in teaching and education, and as I progressed through medical school, I found I learned best through forming connections and utilizing evidence based learning strategies to retain information. We decided to start this student review series to help other students form connections and effectively retain material from preclinical and clinical content. I find teaching is an great way to understand concepts at a deeper level and improves communication skills.

Name: Tate

Why Strudel?

Being the son of a high school teacher, I have found helping others learn extremely rewarding.  Medical education, with the seemingly infinite amount of content that is at our fingertips to learn during medical school and afterwards, is a perfect area to explore and find new ways to learn.  Along with this, the ability to form relationships and connect with other learners who understand the workload and the effort it requires makes for a great learning environment where people are passionate about their success, and motivated to continue learning.  As I progress toward residency, it is my hope that Strudel will provide an opportunity for me to further develop not only my understanding of medicine as an aspiring physician, but also my communication and teaching skills that can be used to aid both peers and patients for years to come.

Name: Xander

Why Strudel?

As a medical student, I recognized the critical importance of not just mastering the material, but also developing effective study strategies. This realization led me to explore innovative methods for high-yield review sessions within my medical school. I became passionate about creating resources that help students not only learn efficiently but also study smarter. Through these review sessions and accompanying videos, I aim to empower fellow medical students with the tools and strategies that have contributed to my own success, with the hope of setting them up for their own academic achievements.

Name: Jackson

Why Strudel?

During my undergraduate studies, I joined the supplemental instruction program at my university. When I entered medical school, I noticed a lack of a similar program to support and mentor students. Leading tutoring sessions and witnessing students comprehend challenging concepts continues to be immensely gratifying. It not only reinforces the value of education but also reminds me of the struggles I faced as a younger medical student. As I transition into residency, I aim to apply my teaching skills as a resident to help lead and mentor junior residents and rotating medical students.

Name: Cory

Why Strudel?

I've been blessed with excellent mentors throughout my educational journey and feel a sense of responsibility to afford the same mentorship to those early on in their education path. Medical education is a specific passion that I hope to incorporate into my future career.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing soccer, golfing, live music, fly fishing, chess, and cheering for Wisconsin sports teams.
